Prams are meant for…

Last night i met a friend for coffee. Five years ago, i would have thought that my move to the Land of Fish and Chips would have spelt the end of our friendship. On the crack of the new year half a decade later, we are still in close contact. It is quite surprising and remarkable.

Potato Land has many stray cats. Before my move, there were many stray dogs too but that seemed to have resolved. Anyway, this black and white furball strolled nonchalantly past us. I don’t have a particular affinity with cats partly because i am ignorant about their behaviour and this leads to an unconscious fear; but i do like to give the friendly ones a pat here and there. I didn’t try with this one because it was a full grown male, and i don’t know how aggressive it could be.

(And now let me finally get to the point of this entire entry…i am not devoting a whole blog post to cats!)

As this cat strolled past i suddenly heard a couple of dogs barking excitedly. I whirled around trying to find the source of the commotion, and i could see no dogs, just a bunch of people eating, drinking and chatting. And then i noted a pram rocking furiously. As i stared harder at the pram, i could make out two small toy dogs in it, trying to escape from the pram which has been sealed with a netting.

There was no baby in that pram my friends. There were only a chihuahua and a Yorkshire terrier. And the ‘mother’ was trying to calm them down.

Folks, i am not usually a starer, but hell i could not stop myself.

Is this what people do in their spare time? They treat their dogs like children? I wonder what kind of psychological profiles these dogs have. How do spoilt dogs behave? Do they completely forget their natural instincts?

Goodness. The bizarre behaviour of my fellow humans never cease to end.
